Actualización del intercooler HKS (Civic Type-R 17-21)

Después de una extensa investigación, HKS notó que el intercooler original del Civic Type-R era simplemente insuficiente para manejar la presión generada por el motor turboalimentado K20C. Esto provocaba que la temperatura de admisión del motor subiera hasta casi 90°C.

El núcleo del intercooler HKS Civic Type-R de nuevo diseño tiene 100 mm de ancho y una capacidad aproximadamente un 200 % mayor que el intercooler original. Este gran núcleo ha mostrado un aumento abrumador en el rendimiento de refrigeración.

También vieron que el diseño de la tubería del intercooler original tenía una curva pronunciada, por lo que el aire de admisión no fluía suavemente y provocaba una pérdida de presión de impulso. Respondieron a esto integrando un diseño de tubería superior para lograr un flujo de aire suave y reducir esta pérdida.
