JDC Coil-On-Plug Ignition System | Hitachi GT-R Coils | Evo 4-9
Eliminate spark blowout and upgrade your ignition system with the JDC Coil-On-Plug Ignition System featuring authentic Hitachi R35 GT-R ignition coils. Designed as a direct replacement for the factory Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4-9 coils and ignition wires, this system provides a powerful, reliable coil-on-plug solution for everything from street cars to high-horsepower builds.
The complete system arrives fully assembled and ready to install. Simply remove it from the box, bolt it onto the engine, and plug it directly into the factory wiring harness. No assembly, splicing, or wiring modifications are required. Installation can typically be completed in approximately 10 minutes.
Authentic Hitachi R35 GT-R Ignition Coils
This system uses authentic Japanese-made Hitachi ignition coils originally designed for the 2009-2025 Nissan R35 GT-R.
We specifically chose Hitachi coils rather than the NGK alternative, which is manufactured in Mexico. Hitachi GT-R coils have become a preferred option for high-power R35 GT-R applications because of their proven performance and reliability.
The JDC Hitachi COP system is capable of supporting upwards of 1,100+ horsepower without requiring a CDI ignition box. Hitachi coils have also been used on R35 GT-R builds producing more than 1,700 wheel horsepower, making them an excellent choice for demanding high-horsepower applications.

Tuning and Usage Notes
Proper setup is important for maximizing coil performance and service life.
Dielectric Grease
- We recommend using dielectric grease when installing the COP system. Applying dielectric grease helps reduce the possibility of corrosion developing around the coil springs and electrical contact areas.
Recommended Dwell Time
- For most applications, we recommend retaining a dwell time of approximately 3.4ms @ 14 volts
- This setting provides strong ignition performance while helping keep the coils cool. These upgraded Hitachi coils are capable of supporting dwell times up to approximately 4.5ms @ 14 volts
- Increasing dwell time can provide additional spark energy and may allow a larger spark plug gap to be used for improved combustion and additional horsepower potential.
- As a real-world example, 3.0ms @ 14 volts has easily supported 870whp on a Mustang Dyno.
- Dwell times around 5.5ms @ 14 volts can approach coil saturation. Operating near or beyond this level may generate excessive heat, shorten coil life, and cause premature failure.
Spark Plug Gap
- For higher-horsepower applications, a spark plug gap in the .014" - .018 range may be sufficient.
- The correct spark plug gap will vary depending on the individual vehicle, boost pressure, fuel, ignition setup, power level, and overall engine combination.
